[Based on Psalm 19]
Father, I love Your word: it revives my soul; it makes wisdom simple; it brings joy to my heart; and it gives me insight for living. Father Your word is true, pure and precious, more desirable than gold. Your word is as sweet as honey dripping from the comb and it has kept me from making a lot of mistakes. Father, how can I know all the sins that are lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from hidden faults, from those things of which I am not aware. Keep me from pride, from rebelling against Your will. Don’t let my pride get the best of me. I want to be free of guilt and innocent of sin. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to You, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
[Based on a thought from Psalm 22]
Father, we have learned over time not to trust our emotions. Sometimes we feel forsaken like Christ on the cross. Sin does the same thing to all of us. It makes us feel guilty and alone. It makes us feel that You are far removed. We know however that in Christ we are totally forgiven and fully accepted. You are never far away no matter how lonely we feel. Help us to follow the example of Jesus who prayed through the loneliness. Father, Your Son is our hero–He felt abandoned but He never stopped praying. Even in deepest agony He prayed. Help us to pray and not faint. Jesus prayed through the pain, help us to do likewise. Father we are so thankful that You do not hate and despise us because of our feebleness, fickleness, failures or even faithlessness. When we were weak and wicked, You sent Your only Son to die for us. We cannot repay You, the debt is far, far too great but we can revere You, we can stand in awe of You, we can Worship You and we can praise Your name in private and public. Lord Jesus, You could have saved Yourself but you choose to endure the cross although you despised the shame. You thought it better to come up from a grave rather than come down from a cross. We love and adore You Lord Jesus: You took our hell so we could share Your heaven. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
