Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.

Praise To The Eternal

FATHER, You are the Eternal One. Your name is like no other name. You are without beginning or end. The omnipotent, self-existent, unchanging creator of all things. Your glory is higher than the heavens. We are so out of focus with your infinite greatest that little children with their vivid imaginations can praise You better than adults. When I look up at the stars and consider the work of your hands, it blows my mind. Wow! You are an awesome God. To think that You the Creator would give thought to me is more than I can fathom. You have entrusted us with freedom and given us responsibility: we are amazed and humbled. Father, we acknowledge that there is salvation in no other–Jesus is the Christ Your Son and our Savior. In His exalted name we pray. Amen!  [Based on Psalm 8]

Prayer of Adoration, Praise and Confession [Psalm 62]

Father, we wait quietly before You because You are God. Everything we need comes from You. You are the solid rock that we stand on, the breath of our souls and the wind beneath our wings. As long as we live in this sin cursed world and these bodies of clay, we will be under attack. Sometimes we feel like a broken down wall or a tottering fence that is about to fall. Our fear of failure is constant and the pressure to conform to this world is relentless. Our enemy is never at rest and he does not fight fair. He nor his servants have any code of conduct; their end [our destruction] justifies their means. So LORD we wait before You because You are our only hope of salvation–we do not have a plan B. Victory and power belong to You–Salvation is Your gracious gift. There are no big problems or little problems with you because You have no problems. There are no important people and unimportant people with You. If we put the entire human race on the scales, they would be as vapor, nothing but a puff of wind compared to You. Men who think they are something because they have claimed great possessions are fools. They have made wealth their god and a pitiful god it is. LORD our trust is in YOU! Thank You for Your unconditional love expressed and available in Christ. Wow, what a wonderful Savior is Jesus Our LORD; He has taken our sins away. In His perfect and holy name we pray. Amen!

Prayer of Praise And Patient Hope

Father, You are my light and my salvation. You and only You can deliver me from my fear. At times I feel that evil is about to devour me, I feel the fear of being surrounded by the enemy. Father the thing I seek most is a an awareness of Your presence. Your divine presence is like a hiding place, a shelter, a sanctuary from danger. Help me to remember who I am in Christ. In Christ I am more than a conqueror. In Christ I am above accusation. Please hear my prayer O Father and show mercy unto me. You have invited me to talk with You and I am awed by the privilege. I want to speak to You and I want You to speak to me. I do believe that You love me unconditionally and that You will never forsake me. Teach me how to live Father and how to make right decisions that honor You. I do not want to bring reproach upon your name. Please deliver me from the evil one and from my inclination to hurt myself by making unwise choices. I know that You are good and I am confident that I will be with You in heaven some day. Father, please give me the courage to wait patiently upon You and to suffer patiently for Christ sake in the meantime. In Jesus name I pray, amen. [based on Psalm  27]

Prayer of Confession and Plea For Revival

Heavenly Father, I confess with shame my selfishness. I rarely approach You without a selfish petition on my heart. Deep down I know that all I need is Jesus but somehow I fear the lost of relationships and even things. I want to be like Job but I do not want to be tested like Job. I do praise You Father for Your infinite goodness and your boundless mercy. I have no doubt that You are holy. I have deep respect for Your word. Your word is truth; Your word is powerful and it does not return without accomplishing its mission. I do fear You. I know that the power of life and death are in Your hand. You are the ultimate decision maker. We rule but You overrule. We can’t change Your plans but You can change ours. LORD, our strength is in YOU, not in numbers, titles, or achievements. We have become too concerned about our reputations which may be one of the reasons we are in a “Spiritual Famine”. One thing is certain, we cannot trust the devil, the world nor our flesh. Father I know that Your eye is on me and that Your mercy and grace have sustained me.  I covet the anointing of Your Spirit. It is You who has kept us alive through the famine but we are growing hungry. We desperately need Revival. Give us revival or we perish in more ways than one. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!

Simple Prayer of Praise

Father, You made the world and everything in it. You are LORD of all that is. You cannot be confined to a temple or comprehended by the most brilliant mind. You are not dependent upon us but we are dependent upon YOU! Everything we have is a gift,  everything is a product of Your grace which means: we should give you thanks and praise. Thank You LORD God for your mercy and grace. In Jesus name we pray, amen!

Prayer For Salvation–Psalm 69

Save me O God for my trouble like sea billow roll, I am drowning in adversity. I feel like I am sinking in the mud, muck and mire of sin and I can’t seem to find a footing. O God, You know my foolishness; and my sins are not hidden from You. I have more enemies than I can count and I really don’t know who I can trust other than You. Don’t let those who trust in You be ashamed because of me, don’t let me cause them to be humiliated. LORD, you know my shame, scorn and disgrace. You see what those who hate Jesus are doing. They scorn the church, the bible and Jesus Himself. They are crude, insulting and arrogant. LORD, we seek YOU, not just your help. It is your love that keeps us going and Your word that keeps us encouraged. We know You hear the cries of the needy and we are needy. Give us victory over our enemies. In Jesus name we pray.

Come Down

Rip the heavens apart! Come down, LORD; shake the foundations of our culture. Be a spark that starts a fire igniting revival. Then people will know who you are; all nations will tremble because of Your presence. Your awesome deeds amaze us; even the mountains shake when you come down. You are the only God ever seen or heard of who works miracles for his followers. You help all who gladly obey and do what you want, but sin makes you angry. Only by your help can we ever be saved.We are unfit to worship you; each of our good deeds is merely a filthy rag. We dry up like leaves; our sins are storm winds sweeping us away. We are being destroyed by our own vice and rebellion. No one is faithful to worships. You have given us over to our sins; we are getting what we deserve but we cry out for mercy. You, LORD, are our Father.  We are nothing but clay, but you are the potter who molded us. Don’t be so furious or keep our sins in your thoughts forever! Remember that we are your people. The faith and values of our forefathers have been abandoned; Revive us LORD. We desperately need your help. We need to be stirred and shaken and only Your blessed Holy Spirit can do what needs to be done. Have mercy on us O God: In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
[Prayer based on Isaiah 64]

Asa’s Prayer

“Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!”

[II Chronicles 14:11]

The Seeker’s Prayer

Father, I come to Your throne by Thy invitation,
To lay on the altar my vain imagination.
At times Your silence is difficult to bear,
I am tempted to doubt, to yield to despair.
But I know that YOU love me, Your word tells me so,
And Your presence is promised wherever I go.
Please conform me to the image of Thy dear Son,
Let my will be Thy will until they are one.
Fill my heart with adoration and praise
And enable me to be faithful the rest of my days.

Printed this on the program at Holly’s Baccalaureate. I got the idea from a card in a bookstore and I put it to rhyme.

Habakkuk’s Prayer

O Lord, I have heard Your speech and was afraid;
O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years!
In the midst of the years make it known;
In wrath remember mercy.
