About The Author

My name is Jack Blackburn Bailey. I was born August 8, 1949 to a family of 8, four boys and four girls. I attended a one room school grades 1-3 in Sardis Springs, Alabama. I grew up on a small farm less than a half of a mile from the school. I attended Johnson Jr. High grades 4-9 and then Athens High School where I graduated 4th in the class in 1967. I was 4th from the bottom. I attended Calhoun Jr. College in 1968-69 where I lettered in Cross Country. I finished my ungraduate work at Athens College, now Athens State University. I went from there to New Orleans where I attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated in May of 1974. I served the Salem Springs Baptist Church during my two years at Athens College and the Cash Baptist Church in Lena, Mississippi during Seminary. My only two pastorates since graduation have been in Cherokee, Alabama {1974-1979} and the Danville Baptist Church from 1979-2017. I am married to the former June Marbut of West Limestone. We have four children and nine grandchildren.
