Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.

Douglas MacArthur Prayer

Build me a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid; one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory.

Build me a son whose wishbone will not be where his backbone should be; a son who will know Thee and that to know himself is the foundation stone of knowledge. Lead him to pray, not in the path of ease and comfort, but under stress and spur of difficulties and challenge. Here let him learn to stand up in the storm; here let him learn compassion for those who fail.

Build me a son whose heart will be clean, whose goal will be high; a son who will master himself before he seeks to master others, one who will learn to laugh, yet never forget how to weep, one who will reach into the future, and yet not forget the past. After all these things are his, add, I pray, enough of a sense of humor so that he will always be serious, yet never take himself too seriously. Give him humility, so that he may always remember the simplicity of greatness, the open mind of true wisdom and the meekness of true strength. Then I, his father, will dare to Whisper, “I have not lived in vain.”

Prayer of Praise and Thanksgiving

Our Father who is in heaven, Your name should be and will be honored in all of Christendom and throughout the world. You are all mighty and always present. You dwell in the heavens above and in the hearts within. You are everywhere and all things exist because of You. You are the source of life and You set the boundaries as to how far men can go. You are unconquerable: no army can stop you, no earthy power can become your rival. You are above and beyond all human powers. At the blast of Your breath, the word of Your mouth or the thought of Your mind, kingdoms fall and armies perish. Who can stand before You or against You? Your anger is greater than any weapon we can form. Human defiance enhances Your glory. You don’t have to judge us, our sins will bring us low. Only You can save us from our sin. You are glorious and majestic. The highest mountain pales in comparison to You. You are great and awesome and we would be wise to respect YOU and give You our worship and allegiance. You break the power of enslaving sin, You set the captive free. Your blood can make the vilest clean; it even cleansed a sinner like me.

A Prayer Of Hope

A prayer of David {Psalms 143}

Come quickly, LORD, answer me please, for my depression deepens and I am losing my courage; don’t turn away from me or I will dieRemind me each morning of Your constant love, for I put my trust in You. My prayers go up to You; show me the way I should go. I come to You for protection LORD, rescue me from my enemies {Self, Satan and sin}. Help me to do Your will; teach me to live a life that pleases You for it is You that I long to please.  Lead me by Your blessed Ruach {spirit} to right paths which lead to higher ground. LORD, let me live so that people will praise your name. Show me how good You are and save me from my trouble. Be good to me, and guide me to paths of righteousness. Show me Your love and give me the grace to love those who deserve it least but need it most.

Pray For The World

prayer11Father, You so loved the world that You gave Your only begotten Son. You sent Him not to condemn us but to save us from self, sin, death, hell and this evil world system which has a default sitting and that sitting is hatred for Christ. I am not praying for the evil world system that is antichrist: I am praying for the people who are being deceived by the world and its prince. I am praying for all people, every kindred and every tongue; especially the Jewish people whom the church needs desperately to get the gospel to the uttermost parts, to recognize that You sent Jesus and that He is the Messiah Savior King. I know that the world system which is orchestrated by Satan will persecute anyone who puts their faith in Christ so I pray for all believers and future believers. I pray that you will deliver us from the evil one. I pray that You would unify us, make us one like the Holy Trinity. Set us a part for Your service and sanctify us with Your word of truth. Fill us with joy unspeakable so that when persecuted, we may respond graciously with love and kindness instead of anger and resentment. I am not asking YOU to take us out of the world, although that would be easier for us but I am praying that You will take the world out of us which will make us more fitting vessels. Use us for Your glory and bring us home when our work on earth is done . In Jesus name, I pray. Amen!

Plea For Mercy From The Pit of Despair

Adullam-Cave-interior_fjenkins 090211Father I plead for mercy. I spill my guts to you day and night. I pour out all my complaints in detail. I don’t do this with humans: they don’t understand and I have serious doubts that they care but I know You care. I feel like I am sinking in a sea of despair. Everything is coming a part at the seams and nothing seems to be going my way. My spirit is ebbing away but I do realize that You know where I am, what I am facing and even what I am feeling. You know the danger that I face. My enemy relentlessly pursues me. He stays on my heels night and day like a pack of blood hounds. I am weary of being pursued. I am tired of fighting. It seems that I have a little less energy with each passing day and I don’t see and end in sight. I am hiding in my despair and it seems like a black hole, a dark dungeon, a cave in the ground. I long for light and laughter. I long to be in the company of friends. LORD You are my light and salvation. You are the shield that protects me from death and hell. You are my hope and my victory. I will not fear the dark; I will not give in to despair. You will save me from this situation has You have saved me from others and soon I will be in the light of a new day and the fellowship of those who love You.

A Plea For Help and Mercy

prayer in pewFather, thank You for Your mercy and grace. We could not stand before You and make this petition a part from the forgiveness we have in Christ. We deserve death and hell but because of Jesus, we get forgiveness and heaven. Thank You for this amazing grace. Father our sins have wounded our conscience and weakened our faith; even our bodies groan because of our sins. We are extremely selfish and self-conscience. It takes a miracle of grace and a moving of your Spirit to get our minds focused in worship. Our self-consciousness hinders our prayers, our praise and our worship. Instead of feeling adoration for you and compassion for others, we are bound up in our petty problems and spend most of our time feeling sorry for ourselves in one form or the other. We are consumed with self. We want everyone’s approval, everyone’s love and everyone’s respect which is more than Jesus had when He walked among us. People made fun of Him. They mocked and ridiculed Him but we can’t stand the thought of reproach. This reveals the depth of our depravity and the height of our selfishness and greed, we want more than Jesus had. Where can we go with this vile problem other than to You. The devil doesn’t care and neither does the world. We will get condemnation and more ridicule if we go there but You O God are merciful and kind. You understand the battle we are fighting and you will give us aid and comfort. We cast all our care on You because we know that You care about us. Crucify our loathsome self life and create in us a new heart, a clean heart, a heart that can worship you in a more deserving way. Fill us with Your Spirit so that we may glorify You in every word and deed. In the perfect name of Jesus Christ our LORD, we make these petitions. Amen!

Paul’s Ephesian Prayer [VOICE]

 little girl prayingGod of our Lord Jesus the Anointed, Father of Glory: I call out to You on behalf of Your people. Give them minds ready to receive wisdom and revelation so they will truly know You. Open the eyes of their hearts, and let the light of Your truth flood in. Shine Your light on the hope You are calling them to embrace. Reveal to them the glorious riches You are preparing as their inheritance. Let them see the full extent of Your power that is at work in those of us who believe, and may it be done according to Your might and power.

Prayer For Simple Faith

Ray Stedman

Ray Stedman

Father, what a mistake we make when we try to make things complex. How wonderful it is to come back to the simplicity which is in Jesus Christ. How foolish we are to seek substitutes for that simplicity, that simple relationship of a mighty, overpowering, victorious Lord in the midst of his Church. Lord, teach us to glory in this, teach us to reckon upon it, teach us to pray on this basis and this alone, and, having recognized that these things are true, regardless of what the circumstances around us may be, grant us the faith to step out upon them and act upon them. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thanksgiving For God’s Generosity

Father, thank You for Your infinite benevolence. Remind me often that you give exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask for or even imagine. Help me to extend and express this same spirit of generosity to others so that they may know You and rejoice in Your infinite kindness.

{Joe Stowell, Our Daily Bread}

Hebrews Thirteen

Praying WomanMay God, who gives us peace, who raised up Jesus from the dead and who through the blood of Christ has ratified a new and everlasting covenant and has now become our Good Shepherd, may He transform us and fit us perfectly into His will. To God be praise who through Jesus Christ accomplished through us what is pleasing to our Heavenly Father. To Him be glory forever and forever. Amen!
